Big and wild Flathead Lake

Flathead Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, with more than 200 square miles of water and 185 miles of shoreline. A popular destination is Wild Horse Island State Park, a 2,165-acre state park accessible only by boat, where wild horses and bighorn sheep can be spotted. West Shore State Park and campground is south of Lakeside. There are 31 campsites with access to the rocky shoreline.
